Third Line Infrastructure Engineer

A Third Line Infrastructure Engineer is required to join the team at this leading provider of financial data solutions based in London on a full-time permanent basis. Role Overview

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Third Line Infrastructure Engineer serves as a senior member of the Infrastructure Team. The role requires handling escalated tickets, leading large-scale projects, and providing mentorship to junior staff. Responsibilities span various technologies, including firewalls, servers, networks, workstations, vendor-specific hardware, and software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert IT support for core business applications and operating systems
• Manage and support disaster recovery solutions
• Deliver advanced technical support for WAN/LAN connectivity, including routers, firewalls, and security
• Collaborate with the security team to ensure all solutions align with security policies
• Implement and support remote access solutions such as VPN
• Proactively monitor alerts and notifications, responding promptly through service tickets
• Create and maintain documentation for solutions, configurations, and procedures
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding incident progress and potential outages

Essential Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in:
• Microsoft Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
• Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
• Firewall administration (Watchguard, Cisco, SonicWall)
• Backup solutions (Veeam)
• Antivirus technologies (Sophos)
• Software deployment (Group Policy, MDM)
• Advanced Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnetting)
• Remote access technologies (VPN)
• HP ProLiant servers (including iLO configuration)
• Ubuntu Linux
• Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V)
• Ability to multi-task, adapt to changes quickly, and provide outstanding customer care
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and 24/7 on-call escalation

Desirable

• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
• Relevant certifications (e.g., MCITP, CCNA)
• Familiarity with IP-based telephone systems
• Understanding of cloud technologies

Other Job Requirements

• Must be flexible with start and end times upon request
• Must be able to deal with escalated issues outside standard working hours
• Must attend work on site - FIVE days a week.
