Field Engineer / 3rd Line Field Engineer

Field Engineer / 3rd Line Field Engineer required for my client based in Richmond for a permanent role.

Candidates must be based within 60 minutes of Richmond and be capable of providing hands-on support, completing high-quality installations, and handling third-line escalations with minimal oversight.

Own vehicle is required.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Address complex third-line technical issues related to servers, networks, and cloud environments.
• Manage and administer hybrid IT systems, including Azure AD, Microsoft 365, and VMware environments.
• Configure advanced networking setups such as VLANs, NAT, DNS, and firewalls.

On-Site Engineering:

• Conduct professional installations, including hardware setups and network infrastructure upgrades.
• Implement cable trunking and ensure all physical work aligns with high-quality standards.

Project Collaboration:

• Support large-scale IT projects like system migrations and infrastructure deployments.
• Develop and maintain accurate documentation for technical configurations and solutions.

Candidate Qualifications

Experience:

• 5+ years in 3rd line support or field engineering, with a track record of independent technical problem-solving.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient with Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, and advanced networking concepts.
• Knowledgeable in Dell PowerEdge, Cisco technologies, and tools like SolarWinds.

Other Requirements:

• UK driver’s license and own transport.
• Detail-oriented with strong skills in physical engineering tasks like cable management.
