THE COMPANY

Our client, a well-established logistics company based in Burton-on-Trent, is seeking to expand their finance team by appointing a Finance Assistant on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the Nominal Accounts and Purchase Ledger departments. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the timely payment of suppliers through the accurate processing of nominal supplier invoices on the company’s accounting systems.

Your duties will involve:

  • Administration, monitoring, and prompt actioning of the nominal accounts email inboxes.
  • Accurate and timely processing of operational Accounts Payable invoices and credit notes.
  • Matching nominal Accounts Payable invoices to the corresponding purchase ordering system, where applicable.
  • Reviewing and processing employee expense claims to ensure compliance with the company’s Expenses Policy, accurate VAT recording, correct coding, and proper filing of all documentation.
  • Ensuring that expense claims are processed for payment through monthly payroll runs, meeting all associated deadlines for the UK and Ireland.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working in an accounts department (preferred).
  • A proactive, bright, and ambitious attitude with an interest in accountancy and finance.
  • Availability to start on short notice and a willingness to commit to a temporary role for six months, with the potential for it to become permanent.
