Insurance Manager - Property Sector

The Insurance Manager will be responsible for the development, performance, governance, and administration of the insurance provisions for the organisation to produce an efficient service and delivery solution, maximising efficiency and performance for clients and customers.
As Insurance Manager your duties also include guiding the team, setting performance objectives, evaluating, and optimising operational performance, ensuring legal, regulatory and company standards are upheld, and preparing operations and financial reports.
To be successful as Insurance Manager, you should be able to lead and manage people, ensure operations run smoothly, and have an in-depth knowledge of insurance in the property management industry, including impending changes to our sector. Ultimately, a first-rate Insurance Manager should embody the companies values in delivery of all aspects of their role, be able to perform efficiently in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate excellent leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Working with Brokers and the business to gather and review renewal information for corporate insurance arrangements and large portfolio renewals
- Lead the property and public liability renewal process to ensure the programme renewal is cost effective with broad policy cover.
- Make recommendations for rating, wording, and insurers
- Ensure insurance arrangements are up-to-date, premiums agreed with insurers and premiums billed to tenants as appropriate.
- Oversee the credit control for the insurance for the portfolio
- Identify new insurable risks within the business and make recommendations for effective management of the risks.
- Report to the organisation on cover arrangements, premiums, and recoveries, including dashboards to management based on financial budgeting
- Provide data to internal and external clients and managing data validity
- Attend Client Renewal meetings for key clients, providing insight and suggestions into the policy and premiums
- Manage the transition of properties and large portfolios into our business as and when required through new business or acquisitions
- Manage the review of leases and ensure insurances are in place and recoverable.
- Manage the claims notification process to insurers so that the insurers have sufficient information to investigate claims and monitor the effectiveness of the insurer’s claims handling service.
- Ensure the termsand conditions of contracts are clear and robust.
- Support Insurance Team with large property claims.
- Develop best practice procedures for managing renewal documentation and processing
- Identify and work with the organisation to create practices and procedures that ensure risks are managed effectively from an insurance viewpoint. Keep procedures up-to-date and ensure appropriate people are aware and able to follow the procedures as appropriate.
- Reviewing existing IT processes and recommending changes to the insurance management arrangements in line with companywide system review
- Resolve insurance queries from departments and third parties.
- Handling any insurance matters relating to the business of the organisation as required.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Good interpersonal and strong leadership skills
- Sound knowledge of UK insurance markets, and expertise in the applicable regulatory environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence at all levels withinthe business.
- Strong commitment to deliver results and make a meaningful contribution in a team environment.
- Demonstrate extensive experience handling large projects and knowledge of policy wordings with an understanding of contract law.
- Successful track record, in a position of responsibility, handling insurance negotiations between client,
- Broker and Insurers.
Desired
- Be working towards ACII professional qualification
- 3+ years of management and leadership experience
- Ability to adapt to new IT systems and acquire a full understanding of the logic that sits behind them
