Here at Ruby Energy, we continue our exciting growth into the new year with a brand-new vacancy for a Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in our expanding Finance department, based at our offices in Fleetwood.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the organisation's financial strategy, planning, and performance management processes.

The new Head of Financial Planning and Analysis involves delivering financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership, leading budgeting and forecasting efforts, and ensuring alignment between financial goals and overall business objectives.

Some travel to our offices in Manchester will be required.

Main Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Develop and execute the company's financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
  • Oversee the creation of annual budgets, long-term forecasts, and multi-year financial models
  • Provide financial insights to support business growth, profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver detailed management reports, including variance analysis, KPIs, and dashboard metrics
  • Collaborate with business units to optimise financial outcomes and drive accountability
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing financial guidance for strategic initiatives and decision-making
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and potential M&A activities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure financial implications are considered in business strategies
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team and across departments
  • Ensure continuous improvement of FP&A tools, processes, and methodologies
  • Enhance financial planning systems and tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy
  • Leverage business intelligence and analytics platforms to deliver real-time insights
  • Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Monitor and manage financial risks
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for financial planning and analysis activities

Requirements to be considered:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis or corporate finance
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role, managing large and complex teams
  • Able to operate effectively in both SME / start-up growth environment and more complex group / corporate like context
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic industry is highly desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analytics
  • Strong knowledge of FP&A tools and ERP systems
  • Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on driving results and innovation
  • A track record of making positive commercial impact on businesses

Qualification & Education Requirements:

  • CIMA / ACCA / ICAEW qualified
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • CFA, CPA, or equivalent designation is advantageous
