About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Camden, London. This full-time role involves working closely with a child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), supporting their learning and emotional development in a classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to a child with ASD, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.
- Implement and follow individualised learning plans, providing tailored support in various subjects.
- Promote positive behaviour and communication, using strategies appropriate for the child's needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons and activities.
- Help with the child's personal care, if required, and ensure their well-being throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, including SENCO, to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and record the child's progress, and provide feedback to the teacher and parents as needed.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with ASD.
- Patience, understanding, and a positive approach to working with children with additional learning needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to supporting the child's social, emotional, and academic development.
- A DBS check will be required (if not already held).
Desirable:
- A qualification or training in working with children with ASD or other special needs (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Team Teach, or similar).
- Experience in a primary school setting.
