QA Engineer

Location: Bath

Job Summary:

As a Quality Engineer, with around a minimum of 2 years QA experience, you will work closely with the Discovery Education product scrum team in our Bath office and other Quality Engineers to design, develop, execute and maintain manual tests and test data. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and grow their skills in software engineering, including quality engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a scrum team consisting of product owner, project manager and developers
  • Understand the application under test, the various features, integration areas that require collaboration with other scrum teams and Quality Engineers
  • Collaborate with senior Quality Engineers to design and develop manual tests
  • Develop regression tests to update the existing test scenarios checklist
  • Create test data in various test environments
  • Create defects when identified through manual testing and follow up with the scrum team for prioritization as well as resolution
  • Perform accessibility, responsive design, localization, cross browser, cross device testing
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Support the team in maintaining and improving existing regression test checklists
  • Work with a geographically diverse team. On occasion, you may need to slightly shift hours to collaborate with your global teammates.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for technology and a desire to learn and grow within the field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess an open mindset and demonstrate an eagerness to take on new challenges as they arise
  • Basic knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL), web technologies and browser developer tools
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is a plus but not required. Candidates with demonstrable skills or equivalent experience are encouraged to apply
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Behavior Driven Development (BDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), etc.) is a plus

Credentials and Experience:

  • 2+ years QA experience
  • Legal right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Ability to travel to the Bath office within one hour

This role is designed to be office based 2 days a week in Bath . The Bath office has stairs and no lift as its an old, listed building so please advise us of any support you would need when interviewing. We have meeting rooms on the ground floor.
