Product Development Manager Here's what you'll be doing
npower Business Solutions (nBS) powered by E.ON is a leading £5 billion revenue business with a vision to become the number one B2B energy supplier in the UK. We serve approximately 60,000 customers and manage around 300,000 meter points in the Industrial and Commercial (I&C) sector.
We have an exciting opportunity for x2 Product Development Managers to join our team. For this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end product development process for nBS, ensuring the timely delivery of innovative and commercially viable products. This role plays a critical part in identifying new market opportunities, structuring business cases, overseeing trials to assess product feasibility and mitigating commercial risks throughout the development lifecycle. This role is based in Solihull, with hybrid working.
Key responsibilities
- Ensuring all new products meet compliance standards, securing internal approvals through the Product Approval Request (PAR) process, and collaborating with marketing and sales to ensure successful product launches.
- Ensure the timely and successful delivery of all product development projects, monitoring progress against the agreed plan and addressing any deviations or delays.
- Coordinate resources and activities across team to ensure seamless execution of the development process.
- Maintain a prioritised roadmap of product development projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and resource availability.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges or setbacks during the development lifecycle.
- Facilitate regular progress reviews, addressing issues and maintaining accountability across teams.
- Establish and enforce standards and frameworks for the product development process to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Analyse past development cycles to identify areas for process improvement, implementing changes to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of progress, risks, and key milestones throughout the development process.
- Review and validate the commercial viability of product proposals, ensuring alignment with financial goals and risk appetite.
What we need from you
- An in-depth understanding of power, gas, generation and Data & Metering Services markets, with a keen eye on emerging energy trends and market dynamics.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional collaboration, able to drive teams across departments to deliver innovative product solutions.
- Experience managing full product lifecycle from ideation to launch, with the ability to balance multiple projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and risk management skills, with the ability to evaluate market opportunities and mitigate risks effectively.
- Exceptional stakeholder and people management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and secure buy-in for product initiatives.
- Experience with legal compliance and managing contractual obligations in a commercial context.
