Assistant Accountant

This role as an Assistant Accountant in the retail industry requires a keen eye for detail and proficient knowledge in accounting principles. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the production of the periodic financial reports, budgeting, overseeing the Accounts Payable function and ad hoc reporting.

Client Details

This is a global luxury fashion brand that is part of a larger fashion group and the head office has recently relocated here to London (the West End - Farringdon). With a small finance team of 4, the role will offer the successful candidate excellent exposure across the company accounts and a strong amount of progression possibilities. The successful candidate will have a strong amount of month-end close experience, and any prior experience in the retail sector is highly desirable!

Description

The successful Assistant Accountant will:

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements
• Work closely with the accounting team to manage budgeting and forecasting activities
• Handle account reconciliations and perform general bookkeeping tasks
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Help with tax audits and tax returns
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
• Contribute to improving financial processes and systems
• Participate in financial planning and strategy meetings

Profile

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

• Approximately 3 years experience in Accounting & Finance ( prior experience in the fashion sector is highly desirable)
• Actively studying towards the ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial principles
• Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
