Elevation recruitment's Design & Projects division are current working with a innovative manufacturer of unique engineering solutions and products in South Yorkshire. This Senior Design Engineer role will be responsible for working with global, market leading clients to develop complex engineering solutions whilst collaborating internally with various technical and project departments.
This role provides genuine exposure to some outstanding projects across the region, solving challenging problems, preparing designs/calculations and working with some excellent fellow design engineers.
Senior Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engineering solutions that align with customer requirements and the teams unique value propositions.
- Lead and manage the technical and operational aspects of engineering projects to ensure Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets are met.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams, overseeing design work and ensuring engineering standards are upheld.
- Drive adherence to company processes and promote a culture of engineering excellence and efficient problem-solving.
- Actively participate in hands-on design and engineering work as needed.
- Manage project risks proactively, using data-driven decision-making and escalating critical issues as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including the Head of Innovation & R&D, Programme Manager, and Chief Engineer, to address complex engineering challenges.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency within engineering operations.
- Report on project performance, plans, and activities to the Leadership Team and other key stakeholders.
Senior Design Engineer Skills, Experience & Education:
- Proven ability to lead and deliver technical engineering projects successfully.
- Strong mechanical engineering background, with expertise in design processes and CAD software (preferably Siemens NX).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of initiative.
- Practical experience in manufacturing or assembly processes.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performance team.
- Experience with risk management, budget control, and requirement management.
- Effective communication across all business levels and with external stakeholders
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent mechanical engineering experience.
- Project management qualifications are a plus.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD) and pursuit of professional accreditations.
