An exciting position has arisen to oversee the successful day to day running and delivery of the Human Resources function of an educational establishment. You will take a lead role in ensuring local compliance with Human Resources and employment related legislation in line with strategy, policies, procedures and processes.
Hours are 8.00am to 4pm Monday to Friday
Main Duties
- Supported by the HR Business Partner and external HR Support provide first line advice and support to local the Head teacher.
- To ensure, through effective line management that the 'People Administrator’ is supporting the effective function of the schools Human Resource department.
- Ensure all employee records, including data regarding sickness absence are up to date and that policies in regard to staff attendance are being adhered to.
- Lead and actively manage the local recruitment process for the college including arranging advertising, recruitment interviews and informing applicants the outcomes via the online recruitment system. Ensure that all staff within the College are compliant with requirements relating to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and are eligible to work in the UK. Complete fitness for work assessments with our occupational health provider.
- Provide supervision, coaching support and development of two People Administrators
- Be accountable that all local Human Resources process and data are fit for purpose and the Human Resource system is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
- Support managers in informal and formal absence meetings, including any issues with attendance/sickness capability, in line with policies and procedures and report to the HRBP on a weekly basis issues and actions being undertaken. Refer employee to the occupational health provider where necessary.
- Conduct exit interviews with staff and provide quarterly reports for the HRBP for analysis.
- Oversee the management of DBS checks and Visas (including renewals) as part of the eligibility to work. Ensuring checks are up-to-date, undertaken in a timely manner and compliant with legislation and Safeguarding and employment policies.
- Ensure new employees are set up correctly, contracts are issued, and change and leavers forms are processed correctly
- Oversee the correct management of the schools SCR (Single Central Record), notifying managers when any issues arise.
- Support the Human Resource Business Partner to contribute to the planning and strategic development of the college, by undertaking projects and tasks as required and contribute to the college self-assessment and quality improvement review processes.
- Oversee the work of the People Administrators in regards to payroll. Quality assuring and checking their work on a monthly basis.
- In conjunction with the HRBP evaluate, analyse and produce workforce reports and KPI’s for internal and external groups including the local governing body and OFSTED ensuring that reports are accurate and in line with requirements
- To be responsible for and able to evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events ensuring that you are updated in all matters relevant to the role within your Personal Development Plan agreed with your manager.
- Carry out additional duties and tasks that may be required within the range of the responsibilities of the post.
Essential:
- A good standard in English and Maths
- A professional qualification in HR, e.g. CIPD or significant on the job experience.
- Knowledge of good practice relating to recruitment, retention and releasing of staff.
- An understanding of legislative requirements relevant to the post.
- Knowledge of and experience in a range of HR administrative systems.
Desirable:
- Relevant Management Qualification
- An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe environment
- Certificate for 'safer recruitment’.
