We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support a child in Key Stage 1 with autism at an inclusive and nurturing primary school in Harrow. This is a part-time role during school term times, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young child's learning journey.

About the school

The school is a values-driven, inclusive primary school where every child is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. They aim to create a warm, supportive environment rooted in respect, kindness, and a commitment to helping every child thrive. Guided by a faith-inspired ethos, they focus on developing resilience, curiosity, and a love for learning in every pupil.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work one-to-one with a Key Stage 1 child with autism, providing tailored support.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the child's communication, social interaction, and engagement with learning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to follow and adapt the child's individual learning plan.
  • Use your initiative to address the child's unique needs, helping to create a positive, consistent, and structured environment.
  • Build a trusting relationship with the child, fostering their self-confidence and independence.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in a similar role, particularly supporting children with autism, is a strong advantage.
  • An understanding of autism and strategies to support children with social and communication difficulties.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with young children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
What We Offer
  • A welcoming and supportive school community.
  • The opportunity to work closely with a dedicated and collaborative team.
  • Professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in SEN support.
  • A role where you can have a meaningful and lasting impact on a child's development.

If you are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and have the skills and experience to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!
