Cost Accountant

New Vacancy: Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a manufacturer on the Wirral with the appointment of a Cost Accountant on a full time, permanent basis.

Due to a retirement next spring, the organisation is planning to bring someone in who will receive a thorough handover and 'own' the costings process. This is a stand-alone role reporting into the Financial Controller with a dotted line to the Finance Director and several stakeholders.

This is a pivotal role within the team / business as you will contribute to financial reporting, operational performance and strategic decision-making. The ideal applicant will be a fully qualified, CIMA / ACCA accountant who has a proven track record in the manufacturing sector and knowledge of ERP.

You will be joining the business during an exciting period of growth, allowing for your own career development with exposure across the company managing several projects, whilst dealing with non-finance budget holders, engineers, project managers, production managers.

You will be a seasoned accountant with superb inter-personal skills who is accustomed to creating strategies to ensure profit margins are achieved.

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for:

• Providing finance support to business / project managers from project appraisal through to completion.
• Being the key point of contact for the costings process, providing costings and analysis of cost-saving opportunities through the development process.
• Providing analysis of standard costs vs actual costs including reports of factors affecting pricing and profitability.
• For developing strategies to protect margins, investigate variances to standard costs and help identify and implement solutions.
• Forecasting contract margin by product line, provide post project contribution margin evaluation, analysis and reporting on sales and order book.
• Collaborating across the business with several stakeholders
• Assist with external audit information requests.
• Annual Cost roll up within ERP system.
• Ad hoc projects and analysis

The ideal applicant, will be:

• Seeking a permanent job on the Wirral
• A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA), who is self-motivated and keen to make an impression.
• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Possess experience of standard costing models / cost systems background
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A team player with excellent communication skills who enjoys working collaboratively across the teams
• Familiar with stakeholder management and business partnering across several departments.
• Strong MS Excel skills and knowledge of ERP costing systems/packages

Recruitment Process
