Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School, Lewisham

Start Date: Immediate
Position: Full-time, Long-term (Until the end of the academic year)
Pay: Dependent on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Behaviour Mentor to join our supportive team at a Mainstream Secondary School in Lewisham. The role is full-time, starting immediately, and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for further opportunities. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential and ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural challenges
  • Develop and implement individual behaviour plans and strategies to promote positive behaviours
  • Support students in the classroom, assisting with the management of challenging behaviours and helping them stay on task
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams to monitor student progress and wellbeing
  • Encourage self-regulation and emotional resilience in students
  • Liaise with parents and external agencies when necessary to support student development
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting, particularly with students who have behavioural or emotional challenges
  • DBS on the Update Service (Essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A passion for supporting young people to succeed and thrive in their education
