We are seeking a dedicated Retail Manager to oversee our homeware and house clearance operations in Braintree. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in retail management, who is committed to driving sales and profitability while delivering exceptional customer service.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage the daily operations of a homeware store, including performance management, training, and guidance of employees and volunteers.
  • Oversee all aspects of stock donations, maximising store profits for the benefit of the organisation.
  • Achieve and exceed income and operational targets by maximising store profitability and minimising costs.
  • Maintain excellent store presentation and visual merchandising to maximise sales potential.
  • Monitor local competitors, pricing, and promotional activities to stay competitive.
  • Ensure the store operates within the designated trading hours and manage staff and volunteer rotas accordingly.
  • Manage house clearance and logistics teams, promoting growth and providing competitive service quotations.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for house clearance services.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience to encourage loyalty and repeat donations.
  • Manage health and safety regulations within the store and during house clearances.
  • Act as a key holder and manage emergency procedures as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in retail management, preferably in homeware or a related sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams, including volunteers.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide hands-on support, including driving a van as required.
  • Competence in handling operational logistics and promotional activities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexibly and cover additional locations as needed.
