Financial Controller

Gleeson Recruitment Group are exclusively working with a local market leader in South Birmingham, looking to recruit a Financial Controller. This role will play a pivotal role in driving financial success within a thriving organisation, working alongside the Finance Director and other senior leaders across the business.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take full responsibility for the end-to-end management of the finance function. This is a key role, offering exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the business's performance. Key responsibilities include:

• Producing accurate financial reports and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• Leading the preparation for audits and acting as the primary point of contact.
• Overseeing the budgeting and forecasting processes to support strategic decision-making.
• Managing bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Supervising and mentoring a small, high-performing transactional team.

The Requirements

The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller role will be:

• Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA/CGMA) with proven post-qualification experience.
• Experienced in leading a finance function, ideally within an SME or similar environment.
• Proficient in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement.
• A strong communicator and leader, capable of inspiring and developing a team.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying opportunities for business growth.
• Degree in accountancy, business or economics.
