Please find below a role profile for a maternity leave 16-18 months in duration for a highly regarded property developer, based in London.

The role is incredibly broad and varied, working with non finance stakeholders providing a range of finance activities across the development which has flats, apartments, restaurants and bars.

The duration is estimated as 16-18 months, 2-3 days in office, remainder working from home.

This role is responsible for all Retail & Estate finance activities including the production of relevant and timely management information, budgeting and forecasting and management of the Retail & Estate finance team.

The Finance Manager, will take a customer facing role in service charge conversations, new commercial contract negotiations, existing contract enhancements and monitor the performance of trading assets. This role will also work closely with the Director of Estate Operations and Retail Director and their teams providing financial and commercial support including external service providers.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Financial reporting: Ensure all financial reporting information is prepared in accordance with IFRS and on a timely basis for monthly/quarterly closes. Prepare quarterly management accounts for Retail & Estate including relevant commentary. Liaise with the Group's treasury and investment teams to provide information on a timely basis for lender reporting and investment property valuations and to support information provision for periodic refinancing activities.
  • Business plan, budget and reforecast: Overall responsibility for the business plan inputs, annual budget process and quarterly reforecast. Ensure a rigorous process of discussion and review with key stakeholders, document inputs and submit to Group with adequate commentary on a timely basis.
  • Service charge: Manage the Estate-wide service charge model, as well as those for several individual developments with multiple occupiers, and prepare the annual service charge budget. Liaise with the business, external advisors, tenants, and property managers to explain the methodology for calculation, the make-up of costs and the overall level of charge. Monitor ongoing expenditure and ensure costs are apportioned correctly. Conduct regular reviews of the model to ensure it is still fair and appropriate as new assets come online.
  • Income enhancement: Support new contract negotiations and existing contract enhancement leading to increased income generation.
  • Process improvement: Support the Group's internal control framework and ensure controls are documented, robust and operating effectively. Drive process improvement by using insight to recommend and initiate corrective action/change to enhance performance.
  • External providers: Manage the relationship with the external retail client accountants. Ensure clear timelines for deliverables are agreed and monitor and review reports received making certain that they are accurate and meet the requirements for internal reporting.
  • Audits and reviews: Manage the relationship with the external service charge accountants and the annual service charge reviews.
  • Assist the Group's external auditors with their queries and requests.
  • Team management: Manage and develop the finance team of three including Performance Development Review's and regular one-to-one sessions, identifying training needs and ensuring individual personal development and career progression aspirations are met. Develop a culture of empowerment throughout the team ensuring that all employees take responsibility for their work and outputs.
  • Business partnering: Collaborate with budget holders including the Director of Estate Operations and Retail Director and their teams to ensure robust financial management. Provide financial support to the operational and commercial teams including preparation of key internal reports and dashboards for analysis. Work with the operational and commercial teams to seek opportunities to grow income and minimise expenditure and drive the business forward.
