It's delivering support at the heart of a world-famous institution.

It's feeling inspired to deliver to the very highest standards, and it’s supporting The Royal Family in their official duties. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

As EA to the Assistant Private Secretary, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the official work of The King and Queen.

We are seeking two Executive Assistants to provide comprehensive executive support to either the Private Secretary leading on Domestic Affairs, or the Private Secretary leading on International and Humanitarian Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting an Assistant Private Secretary, you’ll prioritise and manage requests, coordinate diaries, support meetings, manage travel arrangements and a high volume of calls and incoming correspondence.

  • With exposure across the organisation, you’ll liaise daily at a senior level, building relationships with colleagues, government departments and external organisations.
  • On a rota basis you’ll support the Duty Private Secretary with Government Duty work: coordinating incoming papers and requests, liaising with key contacts, and drafting letters, memos, messages and other documents.
  • Working with our communications team, you’ll provide logistical support for virtual engagements and video messages, and occasionally support in the planning and execution of Royal engagements across the UK and overseas.
  • As part of the Private Office team, you’ll help maintain filing systems and archives so that records are organised, accessible and securely managed.

In this fast-paced and high-profile environment, you'll handle a variety of tasks that require both independent initiative and exceptional teamwork.

The role will involve spending up to 4 weeks per year working from other Royal residences and occasional ad hoc travel to support UK engagements or overseas visits.

Essential Criteria:

  • With relevant PA/secretarial experience, you are used to providing high quality support to senior people.
  • Exceptionally organised, you can manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and always remaining accurate even during busy periods.
  • Having had experience of complex diary management and with a proactive approach, you’re used to pre-empting situations and using good judgement to resolve issues.
  • With superb interpersonal and communication skills, you can liaise sensitively, yet confidently, with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Able to use initiative, particularly when dealing with correspondence and queries.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, you also thrive independently and can work with minimal direction.

Inclusion and Diversity matters at the Royal Household. To achieve our purpose we need to build teams that draw on the widest range of experiences, talents and ideas. Teams that reflect the diversity of society. We need to embrace a culture of constant learning by nurturing curiosity, maintaining an open-mind and encouraging new ideas. We’re actively listening, and we continue to evolve so that everyone who works for us can feel that they belong and are able to thrive.

Benefits:

We know that to deliver our best work we need to feel at our best. That’s why at the Royal Household we offer a generous benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and life priorities.
