Supporting Mental Health and Complex Needs

A specialist school in Maidenhead is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Emotional & Behavioural Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school provides tailored support for children aged 5 to 18 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), offering an opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, including SEN specialists and psychologists.

This role is perfect for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. As part of the team, you'll help students improve emotional regulation, develop social skills, and overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with therapists and external specialists.
  • Provide personalised support for children with SEMH needs.
  • Help students build confidence and achieve developmental milestones.
  • Show enthusiasm for supporting children and young people.
  • Remain calm, adaptable, and proactive when handling challenges.

This is an excellent role for graduates seeking hands-on experience in Education, Psychology, or Mental Health. While prior experience is not required, qualifications such as a Degree, Level 3 certification, or previous work with SEN children will be advantageous.

Whether you're interested in a career in Teaching, Mental Health, or SEN support, this role provides a valuable learning opportunity. You'll work both one-on-one and in groups with children who have Autism, behavioural challenges, sensory processing needs, and communication barriers. Many students also face coexisting mental health conditions, giving you unique insights into this field.
