IT Field Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Manager to lead a skilled technical team, ensuring excellence across IT service delivery, infrastructure management, and client relationships. Based near Richmond, this is a hybrid role requiring a blend of technical expertise and strong leadership. You'll drive operational efficiency, oversee major projects, and help establish long-term strategies to support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead a team of senior and remote engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Create and enforce training plans, performance reviews, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings to provide feedback and establish clear objectives.

Technical Oversight

  • Serve as the top-level escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Manage IT systems, including Windows Servers (2016-2022), Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and advanced networking setups.
  • Oversee compliance with Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and other regulatory frameworks, ensuring robust security and data governance.

Project Management

  • Oversee significant IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and deployment strategies.
  • Conduct site evaluations and pre-sales consultations, ensuring accurate scoping and delivery.
  • Establish comprehensive documentation for all systems, processes, and project deliverables.

Client Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with clients, acting as their trusted technical advisor.
  • Attend client meetings and participate in pre-sales discussions, offering expert guidance on IT solutions.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Expertise

  • Proven track record in IT operations, with at least 7-10 years of relevant experience, including technical leadership.
  • Expertise in managing Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and networking (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet).
  • Experience with tools like SolarWinds, VMware, and system imaging solutions.
  • Background in delivering IT transformation projects and process improvements.

Skills

  • Strong client-facing and communication skills, capable of handling high-pressure situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to define structured processes and enforce best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on delivering efficient, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or Cisco CCNP preferred.

ITIL certification or similar is advantageous.

Other Requirements

Valid UK driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

Proximity to Richmond, with the ability to attend on-site and client locations as needed.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary: £55,000-£65,000, negotiable for exceptional candidates.
