  • Collaborative Planning: Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning activities.
  • Communication Support: Utilize communication aids and techniques, including Makaton, to support non-verbal students in expressing themselves and engaging with their peers.

  • Physical Fitness: Fit, active, and mobile to meet the physical demands of working with students who have diverse needs.
  • Personal Qualities: Good sense of humour, resilience, and a positive attitude to handle the challenges and rewards of working in a special education setting.
  • Phonics Knowledge: Familiarity with Read, Write Inc and Fresh Start programs for phonics teaching is desirable.
  • Makaton Knowledge: Proficiency in Makaton, a language program using signs and symbols to help people communicate, is highly desirable.

Additional Skills and Attributes:

  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive school culture.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to participate in training and workshops.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
