About the Role

As a Senior Finance Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Head of Finance and ensuring the smooth running of our department. You’ll take ownership of vital tasks and projects, helping to keep our accounts in top shape. With a professional approach, you’ll also be the go-to person for internal enquiries and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Finance Technician and Finance Assistant to ensure the department runs efficiently.
  • Assist the Head of Finance with key projects and strategic goals.
  • Maintain the Sales, Purchase, and Nominal ledgers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers from the UK, Europe, and overseas.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc basis.
  • Support in the creation and publication of monthly financial statements.
  • Manage daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of ONS returns.
  • Assist with goods-in processes, including currency forecasting and invoice processing.
  • Keep stock costings up to date and accurate.
  • Provide training and support to other members of the finance team.
  • Step up as a leader when the Head of Finance is unavailable.

What We’re Looking For

  • AAT Level 4 (or equivalent experience) would be great, but we value hands-on experience just as much.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and other accounting software.
  • Experience with payroll and importing goods from overseas is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with internal teams and external partners.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role with a general working pattern of 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM. We require someone with the flexibility to dig in when the workload requires it and in return, ensure a pleasant working environment.
