Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid working approach) In office once a week

Hours: 35 hours per week, from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday

The Role

The post holder will join a small, forward-thinking team and will help to make sure the GPhC complies with data protection, freedom of information and other information rights legislation. This role includes deputising for the Data Protection Officer, and you will take the lead on a variety of important projects and work, such as responding to information requests, advising on information governance aspects of procurement activity, and facilitating training. You will also advise on data sharing, data protection impact assessments and records management improvements.

This role is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our pre-employment due diligence.


The successful applicant will:

  • Help develop policies and deliver solutions that improve how we manage and protect data.

  • Act as a key advisor across the organisation, providing expert guidance on data risks, impact assessments, compliance improvements and investigating incidents.

  • Build close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the whole organisation.

  • Have the opportunity to broaden your own skillset whilst deputising for the Governance and Assurance Manager as Data Protection Officer. There will be learning and development opportunities through involvement in information governance aspects of broader organisational policy and process development.

  • Hold a recognised data protection qualification.
