Location: Whitfield, Kent
Salary: £35,000 per year DOE

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (5 on 2 off Shift Pattern)

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner to join our client's dynamic team based in Dover. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in a company renowned for excellence in delivering chilled and frozen food logistics across the UK and Ireland.

About the Company

Our client is a market leader in providing 24-hour chilled and frozen food delivery services, boasting a network of 9 depots and over 375 vehicles. Whether it’s fresh consignments or frozen goods, they pride themselves on delivering top-tier service to their customers.

Key Responsibilities

As an Senior Transport Planner, you will:

• Plan vehicles with consideration for load factors, driving hours, customer opening hours, and legal requirements.
• Ensure Profit and Loss targets are met.
• Supervise and manage daily collections and deliveries as per instructions.
• Communicate effectively with customers, sub-contractors, drivers, and other stakeholders.
• Make informed decisions using your initiative in your area of control.
• Handle general administration tasks and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Represent the company commercially in interactions with stakeholders.
• Support other areas of the business as required.

General Responsibilities

• Promote company values and the code of conduct in all interactions.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records where necessary.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications and Experience:

Must Have

• International Planning Experience

• Freight Forwarding knowledge

• Customs familiarity

• Understanding of cross-border trade

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the haulage or freight forwarding industry.

Preferred

• Strong knowledge of fleet and driver management, scheduling/planning, WTD, and tachographs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to compile and analyse data.
• Familiarity with health and safety procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

• Solution-oriented with a proactive mindset.
• Excellent verbal, written, and mathematical communication skills.
• Highly organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Comfortable working under pressure with fluid targets and deadlines.
• A strong team player with a collaborative attitude.
