Description
As the Risk Specialist, your role responsibilities will include:
- Enhance risk management: Play a pivotal role in maintaining, embedding, and enhancing the risk management framework ensuring consistent promotion throughout the organisation.
- Support risk owners: Assist risk owners in accurately articulating and scoring their risks, identifying mitigating actions and controls to manage these risks effectively.
- Engage with local risk leaders: Support Local Risk Leader's Group by participating in meetings, responding to training requests, and sharing risk management information and guidance. Look for opportunities to enhance the group's effectiveness and collaboration.
- Build relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and key business areas, acting as a 'critical friend' by providing advice, challenge, support, and guidance on risk matters.
- Promote risk appetite: Advocate for the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), helping the organisation understand and apply it as a decision-making tool. Identify opportunities to integrate the RAS more effectively into business processes.
- Enhance risk culture: Be proactive in identifying areas for improvement and opportunities to strengthen our risk culture.
- General support: Provide general support to the Enterprise Risk Manager and Head of Risk & Assurance as needed.
Profile
A successful Risk Specialist should have:
- Demonstrable experience of providing risk oversight and using risk management frameworks to develop organisational risk maturity.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders from across the organisation, including the ability to influence and challenge appropriately at senior levels.
- Ability to utilise tools (such as MS Office/PowerPoint/Excel) for data analysis and reporting with high attention to detail and accuracy, and a focus on delivering quality outputs.
- Demonstrable experience in mentoring and training colleagues, particularly in risk management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk information clearly and effectively.
