An exciting opportunity to join CMS in our London Insurance Team.

About us

CMS is a Future Facing firm with more than 80 offices in over 45 countries and 5,800+ lawyers worldwide. We combine deep local market understanding with a global perspective. We are passionate about building strong relationships with our clients, our people, and the communities we work in.

We take a bold, dynamic, and agile approach to ensure our clients are able to face the future with confidence. We are driven by emerging technologies such as generative AI and readily embrace the possibilities it opens up for developing new and better ways of working. Our aim is to inspire, impact and support our clients and our people, helping them to maximize their potential and thrive.

About the role

The CMS Insurance & Reinsurance Group is busy and continues to grow. They are looking to hire into both the London & Bristol teams at all levels 2 PQE+ and are interested in applicants with experience in insurance claims and/or policy coverage work.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting matters and work with partners across the group regardless of location. We currently have roles available to support most lines of business, offering a broad range of experience and development opportunities, although there is also scope to be more specialised particularly for more experienced candidates. Key areas of work for the department include: (i) wide ranging professional indemnity disputes (particularly defending claims against all professionals including finance professionals, solicitors, insurance brokers and construction professionals); (ii) financial lines, D&O, W&I, CAR, marine, reinsurance and cyber risks; (iii) complex policy coverage matters and (iv) insurance advisory (including drafting and advising on binding authority agreements, claims handling agreements, service agreements and TOBAs).
You will have the opportunity to work with an enviable client base, including many the leading insurers and major brokers as well as numerous market leading and highly ranked partners and rising stars. The group has many high-profile mandates and is involved in international as well as the London market and UK based disputes.

About you

We will invest in your ongoing training and development to support your professional goals and help you to thrive in your role from day one. Our opportunities are open to all suitably qualified applicants, so to be considered for this role, the right individuals will have experience gained at a leading insurance, major regional or leading international firm with experience in dispute resolution, litigation/arbitration and/or advising London market or international Insurers. The roles would also suit candidates with strong experience in managing clients and an interest in broadening their experience base.

As well as legal technical excellence, you will have excellent case management and drafting skills and the ability to deliver practical and commercial advice. Due to the role being client facing and working within a team, you will need to have sound judgment and good interpersonal and project management skills. You must be 2PQE level or above to be considered.

What's in it for you?

We want to reward you today and help you plan for tomorrow. We appreciate that everyone is different, therefore we have designed a benefits system that offers choice and flexibility based on individual needs and lifestyles. To name a few, these include:
