A well established building contractor based in Northampton are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our small and dynamic commercial team.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of exciting construction projects, contributing to the success of a well-established, family-run company.

Client Details

This client cover a wide variety of projects from painting/decorating, commercial refurbishments, listed building projects as well as repairs and maintenance works across different sectors including leisure, public sector and retail. They are a family run business with a fantastic reputation across the industry and work alongside a number of long standing clients.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.
  • Support the procurement process, including tender preparation, supplier negotiations, and subcontractor engagement.
  • Assist in the measurement and valuation of works for interim and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs and identify potential areas for cost savings.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure financial and contractual control throughout project life cycles.
  • Support in the preparation and submission of variations and claims.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to support project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.

Profile

Ideally they are looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or working towards one/work experience already).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction-related software.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within the role.
