A vibrant and supportive primary school in Havering, London, is looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2025. This long-term role runs until July 2025, with teacher training opportunities available from September 2025 for the right candidate. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the implementation of Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and supporting students with ASD and other learning needs.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum.
  • Working closely with teachers to adapt learning resources and teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and valued.
  • Monitoring and tracking the progress of students, reporting back to the SEN coordinator and teachers.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a graduate with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Have experience working with students with SEN or a desire to gain this experience through education and training.
  • Have excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to adapt to different student needs.
  • Be proactive in providing assistance to students, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Approach the role with empathy, understanding, and a positive, can-do attitude.
