Are you a strong, resilient, and compassionate professional with a background in youth work, gang intervention, or alternative provisions? Do you have the skills to inspire and support young people with challenging behaviour? We are seeking a Male Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 1:1 with a male student in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) environment.

The Role:
As a Male LSA, you will play a vital role in supporting a male student who has experienced gang culture and presents challenging behaviour. Your role will focus on building trust, offering guidance, and implementing strategies to engage the student positively in their education. You will work closely with the school's staff to support the student's academic, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a male student, ensuring their needs are met both academically and emotionally.
  • Utilise de-escalation techniques and strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Act as a role model and mentor, fostering a sense of trust and stability.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement behaviour management plans and strategies tailored to the individual's needs.
  • Support the student in developing positive coping mechanisms and decision-making skills.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with young people involved in gang culture or at risk of exclusion.
  • A background in youth work, mentoring, or similar roles.
  • Experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, or challenging educational setting.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people.
  • The ability to build meaningful and trusting relationships with vulnerable students.
