Location: Remote but flexible to travel to London when needed
You will have an opportunity to demonstrate your research skills in some of the most relevant issues affecting our clients, initiative and a flexible yet organised approach to forecasting across a range of different industry segments and subject areas in response to changing market dynamics.
For this role you will be expected to:
- Take responsibility for forecast production work for assigned project deliverables across all phases, from Business Understanding through to Deployment.
- Maintain existing data storage and physical data models as well as existing data flows to and from forecast models using Power query and Alteryx.
- Collect and preprocess data from multiple sources to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency. Conduct analysis of time series, cross-sectional and panel data, carry out research.
- Use complex and imperfect data together with mathematical and statistical techniques to update forecasts, making reasonable assumptions.
- Apply statistical techniques to identify patterns and trends alongside the development of techno-economic models and tools, sensitivity analysis and scenario building to deliver enhanced insight and analysis.
- Maintain and update Excel data model and DAX code that underpins forecast models, forecast review dashboards and outputs in Excel via pivot charts and pivot tables as well as PowerBI.
- Produce clear and consistent documented methodologies and assumptions, effectively evaluate supporting macroeconomic data and demonstrate logical thinking to support analysis.
- Liaise directly with subject matter experts, including analysts and pillar leads in the forecasted industries to build Business Understanding, refine forecasts and ensure quality.
- Work directly with Project Management, taking responsibility for timeliness and quality of forecasts produced.
Key Skills and Competencies Required
- High proficiency Power BI and Excel Data Model- experienced user of Power Query and DAX
- Proficiency with data modelling and visualisation, understanding of relational databases
- Proficiency in using forecasting techniques and methodologies with successful track record of building market forecast models
- 2.1 or higher in a business, economics, statistics or mathematics-based degree. Understanding of key economic concepts, such as exchange rates, inflation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability work independently. Proactive in identifying problems as well as investigating causes and researching solutions
- Highly numerate with a strong working knowledge of statistical techniques.
- Effective at communication with senior stakeholders across the business
- Strong academic background in a relevant field (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering)
- Inquisitive attitude and excellent research skills for analysis and understanding of industry trends
- Strong understanding and awareness of the influence of economic factors on market development
Desirable
- Experience with programming, working with Python
- Knowledge of the Entertainment & Media industries
- Experience of working with large amounts of data and data modelling
- Highly literate to produce written research on topics such as trend analysis, forecasting assumptions and methodologies
- Organised and methodological approach to work and attention to detail
