Legal Assistant Role

In this role, you will assist fee earners with the preparation and completion of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters, and the Administration of Estates and Trusts. You will ensure the highest quality and consistency in client care and file management.
My client are looking for someone who takes an active interest in understanding all aspects of client requirements to provide exceptional service levels.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Accurate time recording of chargeable hours and documenting work in file notes and attendance notes.
- Understanding mental capacity as it relates to Wills, LPAs, and Court of Protection.
- Drafting various Will structures and LPAs and supporting solicitors in meetings and client relationships.
- Maintaining a central record of matters where partners are Executors or Attorneys, ensuring regular updates.
- Demonstrating empathy and patience in assisting clients.
- Communicating effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Managing workload and prioritizing tasks as urgent issues arise.
- Releasing original documents to clients per firm procedures.
- Showing empathy and understanding in Probate matters and when managing affairs for clients without capacity.
- Proactively administering estates or managing client affairs under a power of attorney or deputyship.
- Understanding the Probate process and completing Inheritance Tax forms for review.
- Understanding the Court of Protection process, especially for deputy applications and annual reports.
- Making proactive calls to financial institutions.
- Drafting letters and following up with fee earners for document reviews.
- Providing general assistance as needed and using initiative to ensure task completion.
If you have secretarial or legal assistant experience within Private Client, including Court of Protection, and possess the following skills, we want to hear from you:
- Accurate typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and research tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and team skills.
- Experience in building and maintaining client relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Initiative and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, solution-focused approach to daily tasks.
