Management Accountant
The role holder will be responsible for maintaining the books of account and the preparation of monthly management accounts as well as providing financial insights and analysis to aid in decision-making, budgeting, and strategic planning. The Management Accountant will work closely with various departments to gather financial data, analyse trends, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance. Producing detailed information on a regular basis to aid the Finance Director on reporting to the owners.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the books and key ledgers – trade debtors and creditors, bank and processing payments.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting annual financial reports for management review.
- Analyse financial data and trends to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations for cost reduction and profit maximization.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.
- Collaborate with department heads to gather financial information and support decision-making processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Participate in financial audits and assist in the resolution of audit findings.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting financial reporting and analysis.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Part or fully qualified chartered (CIMA) or certified accountant (ACCA), or equivalent qualification by experience.
- Experience with Sage accounting and payroll systems advantageous
- Strong experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on management accounting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards.
