We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive primary school in Telford. This role focuses on providing tailored support to a KS1 pupil with SLD, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide 1:1 support to a KS1 child with Severe Learning Difficulties, both in and out of the classroom.
- Implement personalised learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Use creative and adaptive approaches to engage the child in learning activities and support their development.
- Support the child's emotional and social needs, fostering confidence and independence.
- Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the child's comfort and dignity.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent and effective support.
- Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and contribute to review meetings.
Person Specification: Essential:
- Experience working with children with Severe Learning Difficulties or similar needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the child's changing needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in a school setting.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or Teaching Assistance (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Training in areas such as Makaton, PECS, or sensory integration.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
