LondonEnergy are looking for a General Maintenance Operative. This will be based in Edmonton, North London.

As the General Maintenance Operative you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the plant, as well as buildings and grounds. Also ensuring a safe environment for all users off the plant. Preferably you will have your Class 2 license, so you can operate our vehicles. However, if you don't we will still consider your application!

About Us:

We operate the second largest waste management contract the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough energy from waste to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centre's.

Responsibilities

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for the following:

  • General labouring duties including removal of dirt and detritus from the sites, utilising sweeping, hosing, shovelling and cleaning including using a range of mechanical equipment and operating small mobile plant and forklift trucks, flushing toilets and tanks, site clearances and general upkeep.
  • Carrying out loading and unloading as required, using appropriate equipment as necessary.
  • Undertaking decorating tasks as required. e.g., painting.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in good condition.
  • Carrying out portering duties as directed, including portage of dangerous substances.
  • Undertaking any other appropriate work as directed.
  • Completing appropriate documentation relating to planned maintenance system.
  • Handyman duties e.g. complete minor repairs, install safety equipment and help assemble furniture.
  • Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing lawns, trimming bushes and replacing exterior light bulbs.
  • Driving our Class 2 vehicles around site (if you have the Class 2 license)

Requirements

  • You will have experience of Labouring in either an industrial or building and civil engineering environment and, due to the nature of the role, you must be prepared to work in the inclement weather and conditions when necessary.
  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • A basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems.
  • Good communication ability.
  • Well-organized and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Will have the ability to work as part of a team and to carry out the instructions of your Supervisor.
  • Experience of Labouring in either an industrial or building and civil engineering environment.
  • A full driving licence is essential.
  • Must be available for short term call out.
  • You must be available to work on a rotating shift pattern
