Careers and Employability Advisor

  • Part-time (18 hours per week)
  • Location: West London
  • Term Time Only (Wednesday to Friday)
  • Pay: £15-20 Per hour

We are seeking a dedicated Careers and Employability Advisor to join our client's team. This role involves providing high-quality, comprehensive, and impartial careers education, information, advice, and guidance to a diverse range of prospective and existing students. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to ensure our careers programme meets all eight Gatsby benchmarks of good practice, empowering students to make informed choices about their future.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the line manager in ensuring the college meets all the Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Provide careers and employability advice to students on a drop-in and appointment basis.
  • Target careers and employability advice services to specific student groups, including those not progressing, high needs students, and those at risk of not achieving.
  • Assist students in developing employability skills, completing application forms, producing CVs, covering letters, and developing interview techniques.
  • Coordinate and support UCAS procedures, ensuring a smooth process for students and staff.
  • Deliver workshops on a range of topics including job search, labour market information, apprenticeships, and higher education.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on careers/guidance issues and the use of careers resources.
  • Maintain effective links with employers, training providers, HEIs, and other relevant organisations.
  • Participate in marketing and enrolment events, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in providing careers guidance within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and quality assurance processes (e.g., OFSTED, Matrix).
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, particularly during enrolment periods.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Proficiency in managing UCAS procedures and providing support during open days and enrolment.
  • Continuous professional development in areas relevant to careers and employability guidance.
