Mechanical Engineer - Birmingham
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (2 days: 07:00-19:00, 2 nights: 19:00-07:00)
Pay: Circa £20 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Birmingham team. You will work on a shift pattern of 4 on, 4 off, maintaining and repairing essential mechanical systems and installations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and remedial work on systems including:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), split AC units.
- Taps, TMVs (Thermostatic Mixing Valves), heating, and cooling systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on plant and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Follow all statutory codes of practice and site-specific safety rules.
Flexibility and Development:
- Support operations in sensitive areas such as ITU, A&E, and Operating Theatres.
- Learn new techniques and adapt to changes in work schedules when needed.
- Stand in for supervisors during periods of absence.
Required Skills and Experience
- City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
- Knowledge and experience with AHUs, FCUs, split AC units, and other HVAC systems.
- Ability to work independently from drawings, instructions, and specifications.
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces (training provided).
