About the Project:
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager for a solar farm project located in Luton. The project involves the construction of a solar energy facility, with a duration of 9-12 months. The ideal candidate will have experience in the renewables sector or transmission and distribution (T&D) projects, with a strong track record of managing site operations, ensuring safety, quality, and progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations on site for the solar farm project.
  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work progress and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and supervise the site team, including junior managers, engineers, and labour force.
  • Resolve site issues, handle logistics, and mitigate risks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Monitor and enforce the implementation of the project schedule and milestones.
  • Oversee quality control processes, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard.

Key Requirements:

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in the construction or renewables sector, with a strong background in solar farms or transmission and distribution projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk management, and quality control.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Experience in managing site logistics, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and tools.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Full driving license and ability to travel to and from site as required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Background in large-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.).
  • Knowledge of environmental considerations in renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, transmission, and distribution.
  • Experience working on projects with multiple stakeholders, including government bodies, contractors, and clients.
