Our pupils, ranging from early years to post-16, include those with severe learning difficulties, autism, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The Role:
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be compassionate, dedicated, and resilient and will be available to start the role from January 2025 or sooner.


In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students in their academic, social, and personal development, ensuring that they receive the tailored support they need to thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups with a range of SEN, including complex needs and PMLD.
  • Assisting with classroom activities, ensuring that students are engaged and working towards their personalised goals.
  • Providing emotional and behavioural support, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement specific learning and behavioural strategies.
  • Assisting with personal care needs as required, ensuring the comfort and well-
  • being of the students.
  • Keeping records of students' progress, supporting assessments, and contributing to reports and reviews.

About You:
We are seeking an individual who is:

  • Experienced or passionate about working with students with complex needs, including autism and PMLD.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to the unique needs of each student.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other professionals.
  • Enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
  • A strong communicator, both with students and with other staff.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working in a similar role within an SEN setting.
  • A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or Support worker
  • Knowledge and understanding of autism and PMLD.
