The Data Governance Lead is responsible for overseeing metadata management, data quality metrics and rules, as well as data sharing and access for Transaction Data. As part of a centralized Data Governance Team within the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) office, the role collaborates closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians, and other stakeholders handling Transaction Data.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to identify Critical Data Elements.
Maintain Business Glossary content for Transaction Data Domains in the Data Catalog tool, incorporating input from data stakeholders.
Implement transaction data procedures and processes with guidance from governance bodies (Data Governance Working Groups and Data Governance Council).
Manage the centralised data issue log by collecting input from business data stewards and monitoring resolution progress.
Oversee the centralised data quality rule repository and coordinate the definition of common data quality rules with input from business and technology data stakeholders.
Coordinate publication of the Data Quality Dashboard with Authoritative Data Sources.
Document and manage Data Custody Agreements between source and destination data sources, working with data stewards and custodians and securing approval from data owners.
Collect and document user requirements for the Role-Based Access Framework and automated data access management solution in Databricks.
Assist in developing high-quality training and communication materials to promote Data Governance within Capital Markets.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Capital Markets Transaction Domain Knowledge:
At least 3 years of experience in Capital Markets, preferably in BAU or change roles related to trade booking, matching/confirmation, or reporting.
Comprehensive knowledge of Capital Markets trade and products, with the ability to grasp both simple and complex deal structures.
Data Governance and Management:
Expertise in one or more data governance practices (Metadata, Data Quality, and Data Access Management).
Familiarity with other data management disciplines such as Data Architecture, Data Security, and Reference/Master Data Management.
Experience or familiarity with data governance and management technologies (e.g., Data Catalog, Data Quality, Data Transformation, and Transmission).
Change Management:
Strong ability to work with business, operations, finance, and technology stakeholders across various locations and asset classes.
Skilled in analysing and documenting business processes and implementing new ones.
Proficient in gathering and documenting user requirements using agile methodology.
Experienced in maintaining and coordinating issue logs with prioritization and closure actions.
Professional Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a focus on delivery.
Team player with a dynamic and goal-oriented approach.
Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
Flexible and adaptable to changing situations in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
Experience with change management and organizational tools such as JIRA, SharePoint, and Confluence.
Foundational technical skills (beginner/intermediate level in SQL, XML, BI tools, Python, etc.) and comfort working with existing and emerging technologies.
Previous experience with tools like Microsoft Purview (or similar data catalog tools), Data Quality tools, and Databricks (or comparable cloud-based data engineering tools) is an asset.
