Year 4 Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)

Location: Angel, Islington
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Start Date: January 2025

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated Year 4 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with behavioural challenges, suspected to be on the autism spectrum (ASD, not formally diagnosed). This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in a child's education and personal development.

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil, helping them to engage with classroom activities and learning objectives.
• Implement strategies to manage behavioural challenges in a positive and constructive manner.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to support the child's academic and social progress.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment to promote learning and well-being.
• Monitor and report on the child's progress, offering insights to aid in their development.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience working with children with behavioural challenges, ideally in a 1:1 capacity.
• Knowledge or experience with autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and families.
• A proactive and adaptable mindset to respond to the needs of the child.
