Quality Manager

Reed are delighted to be working with a great local company who are seeking a dedicated Quality Manager to join their team in the aerospace industry. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of quality, ensuring full supply chain traceability, and adhering to AS9120 and customer requirements. The Quality Manager will lead the quality engineers and support the Quality Director, focusing on preventing non-conforming products from reaching our customers.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and quality assurance functions.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related concerns.
  • Lead external audits from customers, regulatory bodies, and interested parties as required.
  • Ensure that internal and supplier audits are completed according to the audit schedule.
  • Oversee the inspection of parts, generation of inspection reports, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Manage the Non-Conformance (NC) and Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
  • Generate and maintain quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Report to and deputise for the Quality Director.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong background in quality management, preferably in the aerospace, defence, or automotive industry.
  • Experience with AS9100/AS9120 standards (ISO 9001 as a minimum).
  • Proficient in auditing, both internal and external.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and root cause investigation techniques.
  • Experience with machined parts and associated processes.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand tolerances.
  • Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent in a technical or engineering subject.

  • Well-organised and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
  • An enthusiastic team player that can deliver results.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to create and manage KPIs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes such as APQP, PPAP, and FAI.
