TEAM LEADER – YOUNG PERSON SUPPORTED HOUSING SERVICE
 
LOCATION:               Gloucester 
HOURS:                     Full-Time 37hrs per week  
HOURLY RATE:        £27,898 per annum
DURATION:               Permanent  
  
Overview:
  • We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader position working with a well-established organisation who provide Semi-Independent Accommodation to Local Authorities and Social Service departments. The service supports 16-to-18-year-olds in Gloucester, helping to prepare the young people for independent living. This is a dual role which includes front line support work combined with management duties, supervising a team of approximately 10 Support Workers.
  
Day to Day Duties:
  • Maintaining a high-quality service working with colleagues to deliver services.
  • Ensuring the delivery of safe, personalized services to each young person we support through assessment, person-centered planning, and regular outcome-focused reviews of services.
  • Playing an active role in assessment and management of risk of young people and liaising with other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Taking a lead in the day-to-day running of the service including spending time with clients and carrying out audits.
  • To ensure that Young People achieve their targets as per their Support plans and complete Life Skills Programme to enable them to develop independent living skills successfully in time for them leaving care.
  • Helping YP achieve the aims of their support plan including planned move on, employment, education, and training.
  • Being knowledgeable about Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policies and Procedures and reporting any untoward events in accordance with the company policies and Local Authority requirements.
  • Providing YP with access to advice, support, and training related to welfare, housing, resettlement.
  • Ensuring the delivery of person-centered support services that promote independence, choice, and dignity to empower people to live as independently as possible.
  • Encourage the YP to observe the house rules.
  • Supervising and nurturing the young person’s social skills that would enable them to function to their optimum level.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date risk assessment for YP and ensuring this is communicated to all staff as appropriate.
  • Reporting all accidents and incidents promptly in accordance with the company policies.
  • Ensuring that accident/incident reports are written clearly and concisely and that any remedial action or learning is incorporated into support delivery.
  • Supervising and training staff to maintain YP records within the company’s guidelines.
  
Team Leadership:
  • Managing a team of staff who are involved in the direct support of the young people
  • To build good relationships with professionals and agencies by ensuring the support delivered by the team is professional, timely, effective and promotes the welfare of the Young People.
  • To ensure Young People and all those working with them are safeguarded by ensuring that all staff receive, read, and adhere to accurate risk assessments and have the relevant tools and resources they need to be able to perform their roles.
  • To liaise with stakeholders and ensure accurate information is recorded, shared, and acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Taking an active part in team meetings.
  • Providing leadership to the staff, in particular briefing them of incidents, maintaining the daily support records and ensuring satisfactory ‘handovers’ take place.
  • Supporting new Youth Support Workers in the completion of induction programs, training, and competency assessment.
  • Supervising the general cleaning and maintenance of the Homes, following the company policy on repairs and maintenance.
  • Seeking to promote high standards to comply with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Being routinely involved in a range of human resources/staff management duties including:
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Training
  • Supervision and appraisal
  • Absence Management
  • Establishing and maintain effective two-way communication to ensure that all staff are aware of and can contribute to operational and strategic developments e.g., staff meetings.
