Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Logistics Operator on behalf of one of our clients.
To ensure the safe, efficient, secure and controlled receipt, storage and movement of factory stocks / materials in accordance with Company procedures along with the accurate inputting of various transactions, record updating and reporting as required. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To practice good housekeeping so as to maintain the quality of materials and a safe working environment.
- Release production shop orders, create pick lists, marshal kits and complete 1st issue transaction.
- Update stock records for shop order shortage and other non-shop order issues, as required.
- Vetting and approval of materials requisitions prior to picking.
- The marshalling of materials for independent supply to other stores/warehouses as required.
- Completion of the daily cycle counting, count updates, variances and analysis reporting as required.
- Initiate replenishment of bin-items and production consumables, as required.
- Undertake the validation and receipt of items onto company premises within agreed timescales, and to efficiently control their subsequent movement to the required storage area /location or consignee, as required.
- Initiate and facilitate the return of defective materials to suppliers, as required.
- Promote security and prevent unauthorised access to storage, receiving and despatch areas as required.
- Physically pick and pack consignments for customers/site requests and update records as required.
- Facilitate customer collections and update records as required.
- To undertake stock write-offs and disposals, as required.
- Any other tasks associated with this role.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in a stores, warehouse, goods receiving, packing and despatch role.
- Dealing with various types of materials and administrative tasks, to meet strict operational deadlines/requirements.
- A current counterbalance forklift truck operating licence.
- Exercising a good degree of independent judgement.
- Working with minimum direct supervision.
- Operating a forklift truck.
- Communicating at various levels.
- Physically fit, for health & safety purposes a medical may be required for employees who use a forklift truck.
- Must be prepared to work outside.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours.
- Computer literate.
- Standing, walking and bending throughout the day.
- Capable of manual handling/lifting on a regular basis, throughout the day.
- Ability to concentrate on lists of specific items relating to codes and numbers.
