Day-to-day of the role: - Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive buying strategies that align with our company objectives, ensuring competitive and profitable product offerings.
- Supplier Relationships: Cultivate and manage relationships with a diverse range of suppliers to secure the best deals and foster long-term partnerships.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and monitor industry trends to make informed purchasing decisions that keep us ahead of the competition.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure product availability aligns with demand forecasts and promotional strategies.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms that balance cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and the replenishment process to maintain optimal stock levels, minimising overstock and stockouts.
- Sales Data Analysis: Analyse sales data to assess product performance and adjust buying strategies to reflect consumer preferences and maximise profitability.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior buyers, enhancing their professional growth and ensuring effective contribution to our procurement goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Proven track record as a Buyer, preferably in the retail or discount sector.
- Strong negotiation skills with excellent communication abilities.
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software.
