Our client is a growing organisation based in Dursley, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team.
Job Purpose:
The Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance department by managing monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. This individual will provide valuable insights to senior management to drive informed decision-making and ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation and ongoing monitoring of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and insights to stakeholders.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control departmental costs, ensuring effective financial management and highlighting areas for improvement.
- Financial Analysis: Provide in-depth financial analysis to support business decisions, including margin analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and pricing strategies.
- Month-End Close: Ensure timely and accurate month-end close procedures, including reconciliations, accruals, and journals.
- Compliance & Controls: Assist in maintaining compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Support year-end audits and liaise with auditors.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of accounting systems and processes, identifying areas for efficiency gains.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Provide support for ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as required by senior management.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or QBE with relevant experience.
- Strong experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and systems.
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in a similar role within a fast-paced environment is desirable.
