Interim Tax Manager - Consumer Goods Business
Location: Winnersh, Wokingham

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Tax Manager to oversee the tax affairs of our medium-sized consumer goods business, which operates across the UK, Sweden, and the Netherlands. This pivotal role will report directly to senior management and requires close collaboration with external advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strategic tax planning.

• Tax Management:

  • Lead and manage all tax affairs for seven UK entities.
  • Provide oversight for tax compliance in Sweden and the Netherlands, working in conjunction with external advisors (e.g., PWC and BDO).

• Strategic Tax Oversight:

  • Investigate and challenge historic tax losses to align them with future profit tax calculations across the group.
  • Analyze and unwind intangible assets and liabilities stemming from recent acquisitions.
  • Oversee and update the company's transfer pricing policy, ensuring compliance and managing intercompany transactions.

• VAT Compliance:

  • Manage VAT affairs, including periodic reviews, VAT accounting postponement, and providing advisory support.
  • Support the team with quarterly plastic packaging tax submissions.

• Special Projects and Planning:

  • Manage employee gift tax computations and R&D tax credit applications.
  • Identify and execute historic tax reclaims on products where applicable.
  • Provide serious strategic input into tax planning alongside external advisors, ensuring the business remains tax-efficient and compliant.

• Cross-Border Collaboration:

  • Critically evaluate and challenge group-wide movement and recharge processes across international entities.

• Proven experience managing tax functions for multiple entities, ideally in a consumer goods or international business setting.
• Expertise in tax compliance, deferred tax, transfer pricing, and VAT regulations.
• Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, particularly with external advisors.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Familiarity with tax laws across multiple jurisdictions (UK, Sweden, and the Netherlands is a plus).
