A Mental Health School in Reading are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with vulnerable students between 4 and 18 with social, emotional and mental health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience supporting vulnerable young people, perfect for anyone hoping of becoming a child counsellor in the future.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with special educational needs (SEN) and a range of social, emotional and mental health challenges. Some of the students have suffered adverse childhood experiences, and therefore need a Learning Support Assistant who can help identify and cater to their needs, and provide them with pastoral care.

You will also implement positive behaviour strategies, with the help of the class teacher and multi-therapy teams, and motivate the students to make appropriate choices.
By working as a Learning Support Assistant at this school, you will gain all the necessary skills required to train as a Child Counsellor in the future - this includes hands-on experience in behaviour management, emotional support, and active listening. You will be instrumental in providing consistency and equipping the children and young people with the tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered and believe that they will succeed in life.
