Job Title: Head of Operations

Location: Snodland

Salary: Circa £75,000 Per Annum + Bonus and Car Allowance

We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to join our client's team. Reporting to the Managing Director, this pivotal role will oversee all aspects of production, stock management, purchasing, health and safety, and facilities maintenance. You will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and supporting the company’s growth ambitions by developing long-term strategies while also leading day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management: Lead operational teams in planning, scheduling, production management, and quality control.
  • Strategic Implementation: Interpret business strategies and define actionable plans.
  • Performance Monitoring: Define, monitor, and challenge departmental KPIs, budgets, and P&L targets, driving improvements where necessary.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets in alignment with site and group strategies.
  • Operational Control: Oversee safety, quality, capacity, and cost from raw materials to finished goods.
  • Facilities Management: Maintain plant and premises, monitor equipment life expectancy, and ensure alignment with future volume projections.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as Technical, Engineering, SHEQ, Customer Services, and Marketing to support their objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, coaching team leaders to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Decision-Making: Serve as a role model for professional operational management, ensuring timely and pragmatic decisions meet customer and business needs.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in a similar role, within manufacturing or engineering and ideally within fabrication or metal work
Desirable Experience
  • Leadership competence in procurement and supply chain.
  • ERP and systems experience.
Qualifications
  • Essential:
    • Degree in Business Management, Business Studies, Mechanical or Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • Desirable:
    • Formal training in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
    • Health & Safety qualifications.
