The Opportunity:

We are currently looking to recruit Commercial Manager(s), who will be required to work closely and pro-actively with key stakeholders at all levels within a major Power Generation Framework.

The team you will be working with is responsible for managing all commercial aspects of both the upstream Procurement process and downstream post contract awards, ensuring that the key requirements of the Programme team are met effectively.

You will be commercially responsible for any contract assigned to you, for all pre and post contract commercial aspects relating to a contract on the major project.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensuring all principal accountability's for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with the clients commercial procedures.
  • Managing the procurement process in accordance with the clients commercial procedures. This will include ensuring that the procurement programme for each contract is aligned to the Integrated Work Schedule & that adequate time is allowed for an effective procurement process leading to contract signature (upstream).
  • Managing a key scope of work in the commercial management of contracts during the execution phase - including the management of change via Compensation Events and Variations (downstream).
  • Responsible for the payment application process for high value, complex contracts, including any commercial auditing requirements.
  • Adopting the role of Intelligent Customer, ensuring that stakeholder expectations are met regarding commercial probity, value and that the supply chain is treated fairly and equitably.
  • Leading in the engagement with the supply chain based on collaborative working principles; thereby building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Overseeing contract commercial relationships. Seeking to achieve equitable outcomes for all parties to facilitate early commercial close-out of contentious topics.
  • Responsibilities under the approved Supply Chain Policy; managing contracts and being a direct interface with the supply chain to ensure an embedded safety culture.
  • Reporting and providing support to a Senior Commercial Manager or Supply Chain Lead including assessing the scope, duration and expected value of each of the Contracts and defining the commercial requirements of a contract.
  • Providing commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post award) to maximise operational and financial performance and minimise commercial risk.
  • Providing commercial management for the delivery of contract final account agreements (close­out) and supporting Project Managers in the effective delivery of the contract including recording commercial lessons learnt.
  • Administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to, CEMAR and SAP.

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in either of the following industries such as: Power & Renewables, HVDC, Energy & Power generation, Offshore cabling, Windfarm is essential.
  • Good understanding of procurement, contract performance measurement, risk, change, and claim management.
  • Good understanding of framework contract and long term service agreement negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management, change and claim management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of NEC & FIDIC contracts in the power construction industry and major projects; with knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
  • Proven track record of administering contracts to successful outcomes.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Member or progressing to membership of an applicable professional body is desirable. For example, MCIPS, RICS, CICES, IOB, CIPS, IACCM.
