About Us:
I am recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) school based in Chester, committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to support the growth, development, and well-being of each student. We are now looking to recruit a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our close-knit team and help deliver the best possible outcomes for our students.

The Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with varying needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities. Your role will involve supporting students both individually and in small groups, helping them access the curriculum, develop social and life skills, and work towards their individual learning goals. You will also collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure each student receives the care and attention they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist students in engaging with the curriculum and achieving their learning objectives.
  • Help with the management of challenging behaviors and support students in developing positive social interactions.
  • Support students with personal care tasks where necessary.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and contribute to student progress.
  • Record and monitor students' progress, identifying and reporting any concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Prepare classroom resources and assist in classroom activities as required.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff members.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting those with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (ideally in an educational setting) is desirable, but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively with staff and parents.
  • Ability to use initiative and show flexibility when required.
  • A proactive attitude to supporting students with a range of needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (such as CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable, but not mandatory.

Why Join Us:

  • A welcoming and supportive team who are dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of students.
  • Opportunities for continuous professional development and training to further your career.
  • A friendly and inclusive school environment, where all staff are valued and supported.
  • The opportunity to work with a diverse range of students and help them achieve their full potential.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
